Call me, call me by my name...

Good evening lads and lasses.

October's @lpgrp session's theme will be Eponymous Albums - in other words albums named simply after the artist.

The Eponymous listening session will be 9pm, Sunday 6th October.

Here is Wikipedia's mighty list of eponymous albums. And here is Rate Your Music's even mightier list.

The Houston Press blog lists 25 'Essential Eponymous Albums' - worth a look.

Aim for politicians fair who'll treat your vote hope well

The theme for @lpgrp’s September session is ‘Post-Punk’.

The listening session will be 9pm, Sunday 8th September. With so many @lpgrp regulars at End of the Road Festival the week before, we're straying from the traditional first Sunday in the month.

First, we need to create a shortlist. Please send me the names of two post-punk albums you’d like to nominate. Use a direct message or a tweet mentioning 'lpgrp' to contact me. Your deadline is noon, Monday 12th August. Once the shortlist is ready, I’ll publish details about how to vote.

Here are lots of post-punk lists from the Rate Your Music site in case you want your memory jogging.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Don't want to end up a cartoon in a cartoon graveyard...

August's @lpgrp session's theme will be Creation Records.

There's obviously a finite number of albums on Creation so we shall make this a straight vote this month - with no nominations. Treat, if you will, the Creation back catalogue as your shortlist. There's a Wikipedia discography here and an Xfm list here

Please send me the titles of your THREE favourite Creation releases by 6pm, Wednesday 17th July. Either send me a DM or an ordinary tweet (mentioning @lpgrp) with your choices.

The Creation Records listening session will be 9.30pm, Sunday 4th August.

1981

Evening all...

July’s @lpgrp theme is ‘1981’ so I'll be taking votes for records with an original release date of 1981.

This month will be a straight vote with no nomination process. I'll take up to 5 votes from everyone. Please rank in order of preference.

First preference will receive 5 votes, second preference will receive 4 votes and so on. Please send votes either by DM or twitter mention.

Deadline for voting will be 8pm on Wednesday 19 June. Listening session will take place on Sunday 7 July at 9:00pm.

Thanks very much – looking forward to receiving your votes.

PS Here are some links to 1981 album lists. These might jog your memory a tad.

Rate Your Music's Best of 1981 - Quite a lot of 'metal' to plough through. Huge list though.

Slicing Up Eyeballs Best of 1981 - More of a 'college rock' feel to this list.
